Review: Dusty Delinquents by Mary Elizabeth & Sarah Elizabeth

Dusty Delinquents by Mary Elizabeth & Sarah Elizabeth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that has affected me quite like this one. I have not stopped thinking about it since I finished. And I don’t have enough words to express how much I loved it. How much it hurt me. And how much I wanted it to go on forever.

Every single part of this got under my skin, through my veins and right into my heart.

This isn’t an easy read. It’s emotional. It’s intense. It’s stressful. It’s addictive. It’s heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. But out of everything, it’s beautiful. (Chapter 55? My god. Genius. Amazing. The most beautiful thing I have ever read.)

I’ve been sitting here trying to type out a full review for an hour, writing words then deleting them because I just can’t process how much this book affected me.

So I’ll just leave it with this is one story I will never, ever forget. And something everyone needs to experience.

Both books – Dusty Innocents AND Dusty Delinquents are currently FREE on Amazon!

Dusty Innocents by Mary Elizabeth & Sarah Elizabeth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“I know he loves me. I never doubt his love. I doubt his intentions and respect. I distrust his motives and allegiance. Love? I smother in dictating love. He’s loves traitor.” – Bliss

I don’t know if this happens to others, but when I read something that I find so captivatingly amazing, I have a hard time writing a review. I will sit in front of a blank word document, and just stare, and daydream, and think about all the things I loved about the book but can’t seem to put into words. Needless to say, that’s happened with Dusty Innocents. But I’ll to try to justify my love for this story now. Let us count the ways…

I loved it for the unusual poetic, lyrical way it was written. I loved it for the raw and gritty emotions it pulled right out of me, I loved how it just got better and better with each page. The writing was perfect and flawless, and I cannot praise it enough.

I love how it is a story that will give you butterflies and stomach aches and make you feel every kind of emotion. It’s a story that will grab your heart, lift it, and then crush it with no remorse.
It’s not your average happily ever after tale; it’s wrong and hurtful and painful, but beautiful in its destructiveness.

“She’s the friend my sister needed, the daughter my mom wanted, a child my dad doesn’t feel guilty about, and the fucking reason my heart beats.” – Dusty

But what I absolutely loved most? How even though I felt like I should have hated Dusty, actually I KNOW I should have hated Dusty, I just couldn’t. His actions would certainly justify that hate, but these authors created such an intriguing character, you just can’t help but be fascinated with him.

Each character was so unique, so memorable, I was drawn into their world with no thoughts of ages or right and wrong or morality, but was just swept up in their love.

It’s most definitely a read that is heavy on angst, but I cannot stress enough how amazingly unique and gut-wrenchingly beautiful it was. Everyone should experience the writing from these two. This is a story I will never forget and will forever be burrowed in my mind and heart.

NOW LIVE! The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry

Title: The Air He Breathes

 Author: Romance Elements #1

Genre: Romance

 Release Date: September 25, 2015

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.

“He’s cruel.”

“He’s cold.”

“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.

We were both looking for something else. Something more.

We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

Review: Unravel

Unravel by Calia Read
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Calia Read you evil little genius, you. You’ve messed with my emotions and I don’t know how I feel about this.

I’m lying. I do know how I feel. I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK. I am still sitting here thinking about every detail even though I finished this yesterday. Still thinking about Naomi, and Lana, and Lachlan, and Max. And in my world, THAT is how you know you just read a fantastic book. When everything that happened plagues your thoughts and you just can’t get it out of your head. When you keep replaying scenes and rethinking all the amazing lines you read.

I will not go into any details on the plot because this is something you most definitely need to go in to blind. Just know that nothing is what it seems, and the whole time you will be wondering is Naomi really crazy? Am I crazy?! How is this all going to fit together?!?

Was it a tad predictable? To me, yes. But in all fairness I tend to accurately guess what’s going to happen in a lot of books. And rest assured, many people I know who have read this didn’t see anything coming. I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless and Calia drew me in and kept me there.

I still have about 10348 questions, which I assume will be answered in Lachlan’s book (for the love of everything holy please tell me that book will be here soon. I NEED IT I NEED I NEED IT.) I love that man with something fierce.

The story was well written, intricate, at times pretty dark, but so so so beautiful. I am looking forward to more from Calia and cannot wait to get my hands on her next books!

Review: Dark Wild Night

Dark Wild Night
Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I mean can Christina Lauren really ever write a bad book?

Is there ever going to be a time they don’t create these characters and scenes that are the most perfect combination of sweet and sexy?

Nah…didn’t think so either.

I loved how this book seemed to touch on so much more than the sexual relationship of Oliver and Lola. While all their other books always feature the build and realization of amazing relationships, this one -to me- seemed to be the most romantic out of the bunch. Maybe because they started as friend first, maybe because Oliver’s feelings were so deep rooted and he wasn’t at all scared to share them with the world and most importantly, with Lola. Maybe because their back stories and fears seemed so real. Whatever the case may be, their relationship was so insanely romantic and adorable I think my cheeks were about ready to burst from smiling so much.

I absolutely adored Oliver’s understanding, protective nature, and Lola’s fierce, determined attitude. And being reacquainted with the rest of the gang, Ansel + Mia and Finn + Harlow, was such a treat for fans of the series.

As always, the story was filled with some INSANELY HOT HOT HOT scenes…*ahem*

…and some of the most ROMANTIC (I know I’ve said romantic like 4 times but..did I mention Oliver is SO EFFIN ROMANTIC?) lines CL has written.

“I don’t think I’ve ever loved anyone quite like this. In this sort of giddy, obliterating game-changing way. Where I can see myself with her for the rest of my life…”

“Is this what it means to become infatuated with someone? A heart becomes a hybrid, half yours, half theirs. Mine beats like this because it wants out. My chest aches to let his heart in.”

SEE??! SEE?! What did I say…SO ROMANTIC!

The only only only thing I would have liked was a longer, more extended ending. It seemed just a tad abrupt to me. (Probably because I just adored these two so much and my greedy little hands just didn’t want it to end.)

Review: Loving Mr. Daniels

Loving Mr. Daniels
Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am going to keep this review short and sweet.

When I picked this up, I was expecting a raunchy, forbidden love story. But instead I found it was a romantic, poignant, quite often sad yet beautiful story about two people who meet at the right time in a point in their lives when they need it most.

As the blurb (and the fact I am probably one of very few who hasn’t read this yet) gives you what this story is about, I won’t go into plot details. I found it to be incredibly touching, with moments that had me shedding actual tears. I am not a crier when it comes to books for whatever reason, but this ending had me grabbing for tissues and sniffling non stop.

If you are like me, and one of the few who haven’t read this yet, I would most definitely recommend it. It is one of those books that will always be resoundingly beautiful no matter at what point it is read.

Review: Ricochet by Keri Lake

Ricochet by Keri Lake

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GAHHHHHH This book. This dark little twisted sexy magnificent book!
Where to start?!

Nicky Ryder is a man on a mission. A man out for revenge for the deaths of his family caused and executed by the corrupt Mayor and gangs in the city of Detroit. He plans to kill every man who has wronged him, and doesn’t care who comes down with them.

Apart of his revenge plot is to kidnap the mayor’s precious wife, someone who appears to be very dear to him, Aubree.

Nick knows the mission he has set out on is dangerous, he knows he himself may end up dead, and he expects Aubrey to be just as evil as her disgusting husband.

But what he doesn’t expect is actually connecting with the girl he kidnaps and realizing she may be just as broken as he is. And with this, they have something in common that causes this connection neither of them saw coming.

“Apart, we were nothing more than two broken halves, but together, our jagged edges fit perfectly, sealed into something whole again.”

I absolutely lovedddd Keri’s portrayal of these characters. They were raw and gritty, and as fucked up as they may have been, their hurt and relationship is something that leapt off the pages and just kicks you straight in the feels.

Nick is a savage ruthless man, but has a HEART OF GOLD and the tender moments he shares with Aubree had me clutching my chest and sighing all over the damn place.

“I told you that you’d destroy me, Aubree. You’re my pain and pleasure. Both the prick of a needle and the buzz that dulls the ache. My addiction. I can’t stay away from what I need. I can’t stay away from you anymore.”

Aubree was a little badass in disguise. She suffers years and years of abuse at the hands of her horrible husband, and yet had this amazing inner strength that made me want to jump in the pages and hug her.

Together…these two…HOLY HOTNESSSSSSSSSS. Keri can write a STEAMY scene or two and her writing in general in just fantastic. From the way it flowed, to the intricate plot she weaved, she left me in awe and excited for whatever comes next from her!

The story had a god mixture of angst, gruesome scenes, romance, mystery, twists and turns I did not see coming (how could I not see that ending coming???), and parts that had me fanning myself one moment and then tearing up the next. Keri painted such a vivid picture, I felt like I was in this story myself. Though there were situations in this I have read in the past, Keri had a way that just made this story her own and I loved every minute of it!

Review: Sincerely, Carter

Sincerely, Carter
Sincerely, Carter by Whitney Gracia Williams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was hate at first sight…until they become best friends…until it was MORE.

Boy and girl meet in fifth grade.
Boy and girl become best friends.
Boy and girl grow up and have sex…what happens now?

Sincerely, Carter is the story of Carter and his best friend Arizona, who have been friends since fifth grade (though Arizona will say it was FOURTH grade). Never having an attraction toward one another, these two friends go through their teens and early adulthood dating others, sharing their dating horror stories (with every sordid detail) along the way, all the while ignoring almost everyone around them questioning why haven’t they hooked up already.

And if you were to ask either one, they would simply say “We’re just friends. Best friends.”

That is, until one fateful day they both notice being “just friends” isn’t how it seems to be anymore. One drunken night and an eventful kiss later, they find themselves in a situation they haven’t been before.

A situation where, let’s just say, Arizona can’t think about anything other than ripping off Carter’s clothes, and Carter…well he isn’t fairing that well either. A situation that leads to sex. Lots of sex.

“Do you want me to take you home?”

If you do take me home, do you promise to have sex with me? I think I’d like to do that with you…Right now…

The summer before they go their separate ways (Arizona to culinary school and Carter to law school) they both silently agree they can’t ignore this attraction anymore and start a sort of friends with benefits/maybe sort of boyfriend/girlfriend – type relationship.

Even though they both are terrified to lose the friendship they have, the pull toward one another is too much to ignore.

Their friendship was insanely adorable (especially the flashbacks to when they were younger. The notes they wrote to each other had me cracking up). Arizona was so sweet and you couldn’t help but love her. And Carter is some serious book boyfriend material.

I LOVED how it wasn’t awkward between them at all, and the move from friends to more was so smooth and easy. No stupid drama, no games, just them. It’s like they were meant to be all along. SWWWOOONN. My favorite thing about a book is when the characters have great and funny banter/dialogue. And this was FULL of it. I devoured this is one day!

Fun Fact: Each chapter is inspired/dedicated to a Taylor Swift song. So fan’s of the singer will get that added bonus while reading

Sincerely, Carter is out now! —>
